students acquire a foundational understanding of visual design as a tool for structuring, communicating, and optimizing information. they develop a systematic understanding of the effects of visual design elements such as form, color, typography, and composition, and learn to assess their relevance in relation to target audiences and the clarity of information in different media contexts. design is primarily understood as a functional means of enhancing usability, clarity, and technical communication.
through practical assignments, students apply design principles in independently developed projects. they create creative solutions to communication-oriented design challenges, considering functional, aesthetic, and contextual requirements. In collaborative work processes, they critically engage with design decisions, reflect on the impact of their work, and integrate feedback into iterative development phases. they make targeted use of common design tools to visualize their ideas effectively.
